Are Electric Clothes Dryers really necessary most of the Time?
For one of my latest green projects, I hung a clothes line around my backyard. My neighbors looked at me a little weird, but for one whole electric billing cycle, my electric bill has gone down by a third than what I used last year during this time (and it’s actually hotter this year than last where I live, so weather should cause my bill to be higher this year).
I know electric dryers were energy expensive, but that is a major chunk off the electric bill, which with that kind of savings, why do people really use electric dryers most of the time? I can see in wet and winter weather, but late spring, summer and fall seems like a waste.
NO,only in bad weather.I like line dry myself but not in this town,it is frowned upon and even been told we have an ordinance against it.Same with rain barrels so one must be inventive to get around these snobs. And yes we have! So far.For most though its just too much trouble, everyone works one or two jobs no time to be hanging clothes which must be ironed thus using the saving you just made. Its a trade off with more work involved so in some cases not a good thing.
